Deaf Debate – What if there is NO ASL?

This video demonstrated what if there is no ASL or any other Sign Language – It has freaked me out a little when I realised the richness of our culture and history would not have existed! Should we maintained our culture and history for many years to come by having International Deaf Day? On which dates does your country celebrate Deaf Day….and what do you do?

Samanjas

Deaf Movie – Samanjas

Samanjas” is a story of four students who are deaf and dumb and living in a hostel. One of them dies in a car accident, which is a great shock to the others and they start believing that just because he was hearing impaired, he could not hear the car horn. They begin to feel that life is nothing but a burden and they lost their interest in life. They even try to commit suicide, but the rector saves them. He tries to revive their faith in life and themselves. It is an inspirational story which gives out the message of counting your blessings.

A deaf child rebels at wearing her cochlear implant. She received her first at age 14 months and the second one at age 5 1/2. She hates the second one. But the family court judge says she must wear it ALL the time….she is never allowed to be deaf except when bathing, swimming or wearing a helmet. OR her dad will go to jail and get his parental rights taken away.

Woman arrested for leaving a deaf and blind baby out in the freezing cold weather all night. When the baby was found he has his face down on a hard and cold concrete of the stairs! The reason for her gross negligence was because of her own selfishness – she went back to a party and apparently had forgotten about the baby!

The film tells the story of Amanprit Johal who has been deaf since birth and how she makes the decision to have a cochlear implant to improve her hearing. Her story is an inspiration to other young deaf people considering having a cochlear implant.
