Deaf History – First Ever Black Deaf Programme
This video clip was taken on 17th May 1992 and it explores an insight of our identity in a British society: Deaf first and Black second or the other way round ? Kevin Buckle, himself Deaf of Jamaican parentage made his debut as a presenter of the ground breaking BBC programme with a brilliant and eloquent interpreter, Sherrie Eugene from Bristol.
See how nervous was he – it seemed he signed in a rather stiffy and wooden manner ! It was his first time on the national TV.
Tell us what you think!
